Mishele S asked: I’m using our mac right now. We also have a pc that is hooked up to the cable modem and router.
We haven’t been able to get an internet connection on the pc since reconnecting it after renovating our house.
My husband contacted our ISP. He was told that it isn’t the pc, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to connect via the mac. We were told that the firewall program we have expired, as far as the free trial period is concerned.
Our money is near depleted after the renovation (trust me, it was very necessary for us to keep living here). So, we cannot afford to buy a new one.
Is there a firewall program that I can download from the mac and burn it to a disc and then install it on the pc?
*we got connected again, yay!! We’re going to try Comodo, since it had the most recommendation…Thanks guys!!!

Mike asked: I’ve been looking around, but I can’t find a solution that seems to fix my problem. I’m connected to my wireless router through my laptop running XP. I can sign on to AIM and the computer is downloading updates, but I get a page load error every time I try Internet explorer. I can also connect to the internet through my Mac on the router (which I’m on now).
Anyway, I’ve tried this but it didn’t work:
“You may have an IP conflict. To check this go to control panel> Network connections> right click on the wireless adapter> choose properties. Go to TCP/IP in the scroll box and highlight it. Then choose the properties box below. In the window that appears, make sure both radio buttons are set to automatic. Do this on the second computer as well. Restart both machines and you should be good to go.”
I’ve turned off the firewall. Under Network Connections I can see the wireless connection is “connected” and the “Internet Gateway” Internet connection is connected. Are there any other solutions that I can try to fix this? If you have any ideas, can you submit them to me with step-by-step process? Oh, I have also connected to the internet before through the wireless network on the computer, but it stopped working for some reason.

mechanicalanimals89 asked: ok to specific, im downloading Photoshop CS4 for my iMac with Vuze and using the torrent from thepiratebay.com and was wondering if it would be wise to use an IP address blocker so they can’t trace me? or is only an issue if i seed or upload torrents? im thinking of installing Little Snitch because when photoshop is downloaded it may want to connect somewhere and im busted, but ive heard that all i need is a firewall and if there a popup that if i allow photoshop to connect somewhere just to make it not connect, but do iMacs have firewalls? if they do where can i check? If not what firewall is good to download?
and is it more dangerous to download programs than music and stuff like that? is what im looking for a IP Address Blocker? can some one suggest a good one for a Mac?
i know its a lot of questions, but a good answer will be appreciated

Vai asked: Well i’m here in vacation for india and my uncle has tried plugging the internet cable from his computer into my mac, and i’ve turned the firewall off my mac so the connection should work, and i’m trying to use mozilla firefox for my mac but the connection still is not working. help please?

L T asked: Hi, I have a Belkin Wireless Router, and recently my computer has not let me access certain sites, such as: Myspace, Hotmail, Yahoo (at the moment im on my sisters laptop, thats how im on this now) and Msn Messenger.. Ive tried near enough everything – from changing security and firewall settings to uninstalling my Belkin product and installing it again – but i still cannot access these sites. People have suggested changing Network Preferences and MTU, but i have no idea of what these are, never mind how to change them – any sort of help or suggestions would be truly appreciated! Even if its telling me where to find the Network Preferences and System Settings. (nb: im using Windows XP , not an apple mac, just a standard PC)
