I have a Mac OSX and I’ve seen a lot of people grumble about how camcorders might not be compatible with a Mac. But it seems like these people are interested in editing their clips via iMovies. If my priority is to be able to transfer video clips to my Mac OSX for the sole purpose of watching, wouldn’t all camcorders be compatible then? I would think that these clips would work on Quicktime, VLC or Windows Media Player. Am I correct? In terms of image quality, what kind (miniDV, HDD, etc.) is best?

Would the Sony Handycam HDR SR7 [hard disk] (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/sony-handycam-hdr-hc7/4505-6500_7-32312626.html?tag=txt), work if I just want to watch videos on my Mac? What about the Panasonic HDR-H18 [hard disk] (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-sdr-h18/4505-6500_7-32343416.html) which is one of the more affordable camcorders?
