How can I get a free firewall program for my pc?

I’m using our mac right now. We also have a pc that is hooked up to the cable modem and router.

We haven’t been able to get an internet connection on the pc since reconnecting it after renovating our house.

My husband contacted our ISP. He was told that it isn’t the pc, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to connect via the mac. We were told that the firewall program we have expired, as far as the free trial period is concerned.

Our money is near depleted after the renovation (trust me, it was very necessary for us to keep living here). So, we cannot afford to buy a new one.

Is there a firewall program that I can download from the mac and burn it to a disc and then install it on the pc?
*we got connected again, yay!! We’re going to try Comodo, since it had the most recommendation…Thanks guys!!!

I need help with uploading photos to my mac, specifically I have problems with iphoto?

I’m frustrated because I have not been able to upload photos to my computer from my digital camera for about a year now. I used to use iphoto on my mac, and it worked fine. I would just plug in the camera, and iphoto would pop right up. However, a while ago, when I uploaded my last album of photos, something seemed to screw up iphoto, and for a long time now, I have not been able to upload new photos to my computer. When I try to plug my camera in, iphoto does not pop up. Not only that, but after uploading that last album of photos, iphoto also seemed to lose all my previous photos that were on there. Well, I know the photos are still there, but I can’t view them. It is really mysterious to me.
While it would be nice to be able to see my old photos, I am mostly concerned with being able to upload new photos once again. So I am wondering if anybody knows a simple way of either fixing my iphoto, or if there is a new photo program I can download or something that would allow me to upload pics to my computer. By the way, my mac is pretty old, so I can’t download a lot of new versions of things. Anyway, I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me find a way to simply upload new photos to my computer! And it would be nice if any directions were very simple to follow, as I always manage to screw up with computers (lol). Thanks!

Best FREE photo editing program for a mac?

I just got a new Macbook and am trying to learn how to use it. I’ve quickly discovered that iphoto is not nearly advanced enough. I don’t need anything too fancy (I was using ACDSee on my PC), but would like more features in image editing than iphoto offers. Can anyone suggest a good, FREE program I could download?
